The coastline of Lochaber is truly remarkable. Not only is it extremely scenic and largely unspoilt, but it also has a fascinating tale to tell of three key events in Scotland’s geological history – mountain building, fire and ice! You can appreciate this astonishing story while at the same time relaxing and enjoying some fine sandy beaches.

- on the mainland at Sanna Bay on Ardnamurchan, at Camusdarach and Morar.
- on the islands at Bay of Laig and Camas Sgiotaig on the Isle of Eigg, as well as on north Rum.

Lochaber’s coast is intricately cut by numerous sea lochs, making travel by boat essential for many of the area’s inhabitants. The small isles are also accessible by ferry so there’s a great selection of cruises to choose from. Some of the cruises are well known for their regular whale and dolphin spotting, so a good chance to spot some wildlife. Our arrival page contains useful ferry links.
