Trip to Lochaline, including the Sand Mine
On Friday 30th November the Geopark is going to Lochaline to see the sandmine. Why not come along with us and make a day of the trip, before going into the depths of the ground?

Description: We will be going around the Ardnamurchan peninsula, staying close to Lochaline, taking in the Moine metamorphosed rocks to the sedimentary formations of the Jurassic and Perm-Triassic and finishing with the volcanic activity 62 million years ago. After this the mine will be doing a public tour.
Time: Meet at the Corran Ferry for 10am to share transport
Details:
- Bring a packed lunch
- Anyone who would like to do this tour will need to be 16 or over and reasonably fit as the road to the mine entrance is quite steep
- Must to wear sturdy shoes (preferably water resistant)
- bring a torch
- wear high viz jacket or vest
- bring a hard hat
If you do not have a hard hat or high visibility clothing please let us know when you book for your safety.
