Agricultural Show Season

On Saturday 11th August 2018 the Strontian Show was in full swing early on. The sun shone on the field over looking Loch Sunart. The Geopark were placed beside Lochaber Beekeepers, with the activities attracting kids, people interested in the geology and wasps! The rock painting and quizzes went down well with locals and tourists alike. The event was great to be a part of and it was great to see local produce, stock, pets, kids and the community all coming together. Our Chairman’s wife managed to win the prize for the best honey, locally produced, which we sell in our Visitor Centre.

This Saturday the Geopark made it to the Lochaber Agricultural Show with the sun shining on the Nevis Range Mountains – a fantastic backdrop. This time we were beside the Cats Protection and the Beekeepers. After getting some dinosaur glitter transfers from the Cats Protection we were ready to greet the visitors. This time round we had fossil rubbings, from dinosaur footprints to sea lilies, and pebble stacking. Highlights of the show were impromptu sheep rounding, the tug of war and Highland cow ice cream. Our Chairman’s wife took home the Cup!
