STEM Learning

Had a great morning last Friday at Bun Sgoil GhĂ idhlig Loch Abar.
With the recent catastrophe in Fuego, Guatemala, we went through how volcanoes are formed. The class was then divided into groups involved in mitigating the damage caused by the volcanoes on humans such as scientists and emergency response teams. They then had to work together to minimise the effect of the eruption.
After this the kids presented their STEM Fair Project on Plastics, with the trophy donated by Lochaber Geopark. They put a lot of effort into finding out how plastics are made, are used, damage our planet and how to reduce their impact. Did you know it takes 16 plastic bottles to make a football top?
