Isle of Eigg GeoWeek Geotour
A successful trip on the ferry over to the beautiful Isle of Eigg, as part of GeoWeek 2019, on Monday 6th May 2019 led to the following highlights of the day:
- Enjoying the sunny weather and being sheltered from the Northwind
- Erosive patterns on columnar joints of pitchstone
- Basalt lava flow bedrock
- Rotten paleosol that was hydrothermally altered
- Conglomerate formed from the debris of the flood basalt
- Kestrels soaring
- Views to Ardnamurchan, Muck and Coll
Thanks to those who joined the Geotour and thank you to Jim Blair, Chairman of Lochaber Geopark, for leading the tour.
