SGA Visit Lochaber Geopark

On Sunday 25th August, Lochaber Geopark guided some 15 members of the Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits (SGA), with Kathryn Goodenough (British Geological Survey), Norman Moles (University of Brighton) and Jamie Price (University of Cardiff), up to the old Fee Donald lead mine to the north-east of Strontian. This excursion, part of the SGA ‘Classic Geology of the Scottish Highlands’ field trip, was part of the SGA 15th Biennial Meeting, which is taking place in the University of Glasgow next week. The sun shone, there was a gentle breeze, and Lochaber looked its best. Our thanks to Kate Campbell and the Ariundle Centre at Strontian which was used as a meeting and refreshment base for the excursion. We hope the SGA have a good conference.
