School Visits

Caol Primary School is currently studying Lochaber as a project until Summer. Our staff geologist went into P5/6 to talk to them about the origin of  Lochaber’s landscape using timelines, and tracking the past location of our continent on the earth, for them to visualise the areas geological history. Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 were visited the week after with a more hands-on approach to Lochaber’s past with activities to show the children the main phases of the formation of Lochaber: mountain building, plate movement, fire and ice! All visits included a discussion about the last period of glaciation and how this was the largest impactor on shaping the land we see today. We also talked about Loch formation and the origin of the name Lochaber.

Thanks for asking us to come along!
